چکیده

Wallace, W. R. (Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge), and G. T. Dimopoullos. Catalase activity in Anaplasma marginale. J. Bacteriol. 91:309-311. 1965.-Extracts of erythrocytes infected with Anaplasma marginale were found to contain more catalase activity than normal erythrocytic preparations. The increase in catalase activity appeared concurrently with increases in the number of erythrocytes containing Anaplasma bodies. Antisera against normal bovine erythrocytes and Anaplasma-infected erythrocytes were prepared in rabbits to test the source of increased catalase activity during anaplasmosis. Antiserum against normal erythrocytes decreased the catalase activity of extracts of normal erythrocytes by 271 units per ml and of partially purified Anaplasma bodies by only 120 units. Rabbit antiserum against Anaplasma-infected bovine erythrocytes removed only 73 units of activity from normal erythrocytes, but decreased the activity of the partially purified Anaplasma bodies by 260 units, indicating the association of catalase with the marginal body.

Molecular study on infection rates of Anaplasma ovis and Anaplasma marginale in sheep and cattle in West-Azerbaijan province, Iran

This study was carried out to determine the presence and frequency of Anaplasma ovis and Anaplasma marginale in sheep and dairy cattle in West-Azerbaijan province, Iran. A total number of 200 blood samples were randomly collected via the jugular vein from apparently healthy cattle (100) and sheep (100). The extracted DNA from blood cells was screened using genus-specific (Anaplasma...

Molecular Detection of Anaplasma marginale and Anaplasma ovis (Rickettsiales: Anaplasmataceae) in Ixodid Tick Species in Iran

The present study was conducted as the first molecular detection of Anaplasma species in tick samples based on the sequencing of major surface proteins 4 (msp4) gene fragments in different parts of Iran. A total of 130 tick specimens were collected from Hormozgan, Lorestan, and Guilan, Iran, within 2015 to 2017. Hyalomma asiaticum, Hyalomma dromedarii</em...

Draft Genome Sequences of Anaplasma phagocytophilum, A. marginale, and A. ovis Isolates from Different Hosts

Here, we report the draft genome sequences of isolates of Anaplasma phagocytophilum, Anaplasma marginale, and Anaplasma ovis The genomes of A. phagocytophilum (human), A. marginale (cattle), and A. ovis (goat) isolates from the United States were sequenced and characterized. This is the first report of an A. ovis genome sequence.

Characterization of recombinant MSP5 Anaplasma marginale Havana isolate

Anaplasma marginale is the causative agent of bovine anaplasmosis, a disease of worldwide economic importance. Major surface proteins (MSPs) are involved in host-pathogen and tick-pathogen interactions and they have been used as markers for the genetic characterization of A. marginale strains and phylogenetic studies. The major surface protein 5 (MSP5) is highly conserved in the genus Anaplasma...

Expression of Anaplasma marginale major surface protein 2 variants during persistent cyclic rickettsemia.

Anaplasma marginale is an intraerythrocytic rickettsial pathogen of cattle in which infection persists for the life of the animal. Persistent A. marginale infection is characterized by repetitive rickettsemic cycles which we hypothesize reflect emergence of A. marginale antigenic variants. In this study, we determined whether variants of major surface protein 2 (MSP-2), a target of protective i...
